The Homestead

Farmstay guests stay in the Omarama Station homestead itself — a classic High Country home, recently and completely renovated, with the whole station beyond the window.

Originally built in the 1860s, the house — with its extensive verandas and large dining and sitting areas — is considered a classic example of a High Country homestead. Following its complete renovation it now offers comforts such as heated floors, modern plumbing, plush carpet and bedding, and a handcrafted wooden bar made from an old woolpress.

Rooms

Double and twin rooms each come with their own ensuite. The home sleeps only a handful of guests at a time, so the experience stays personal and unhurried.

The table

A country-style breakfast is included with your stay. In the evening, guests are welcome to join Richard and Annabelle for a home-cooked dinner around the table, or to try one of the restaurants in town — and either way, you're invited to share a pre-dinner drink with your hosts.

Out on the farm

Depending on the day, Richard and Annabelle can take you out to see the working side of the station. Closer to home, there are tracks and scenic walks to explore, and excellent vantage points over the braided Ahuriri River and the Mackenzie Basin, with the Southern Alps beyond.
